I think they feel pretty roasty and toasty. Snug like a squirrels ear.

I use my heated socks during deer hunting season. While these socks are no substitute for well insulated boots, they do help supplement the boots while sitting stationary in stand for hours at a time.
Operating off NiCad or NiMH batteries, each sock will generate about 0.7 Watts of heat. That little bit of power, distributed over the 3 inch long heater strip that is positioned just behind the toes, is barely enough to feel. In fact if you touch the heating strip with your hand, you may not detect any heat; if you hold it to your more sensitive face, you can feel a modest amount of heat generation.
If alkaline batteries are used, they will generate a little more than 0.7 W for the first hour or so, then as the battery voltage sags, they will steadily drop to a point well less than the 0.7W. One advantage of NiCad or NiMH is that they hold a fairly constant voltage over the majority of their discharge cycle, providing a much more constant heat output. Plus, the NiCads and NiMHs are rechargeable. My preference is to use 10 Ah NiMH batteries, they are good for at about 12 hrs of operation. (If you use batteries made by Powerizer, be aware that part of a cardboard ring around the battery’s positive terminal will need to be trimmed away to allow the contact on the sock’s battery holder to make reliable contact with the battery terminal.)
In my first pair of these socks, a connection went bad after a few years, so they do have a limited life. And contrary to what the instructions say about waiting until you feet are cold to turn the socks on, turn them on before you step outside and leave them on. They just do not generate enough heat to allow your feet to overheat.

Nice glove. Great for hunting not for riding a motorcycle.

I bought these specifically for the "white out" football game 12/16/07, Browns vs. Bills in Cleveland.
1) The pair that I bought didn't work. With a set of brand new batteries inserted as instructed even squeezing the electrodes together didn't warm even a little.
2) Even if they would have the batteries were incredibly unconfortable under my pant leg. My feet froze the entire game!
THANKS LECTRA! I remember what frostbite feels like again.

I do construction work and I stand on concrete all day long. I wear these socks with 400 gram insulated work boots and a thin pair of socks. They have kept my feet warm but the battery tends to feel a bit bulky.

Got these socks for my husband for who is a hunter. He wore them once; it was 28 degrees outside and said they are not working. I checked battery placement and placed the sock on my hand/arm. I could barely feel the heating element which is by the way only an approx 1/2 inch by 3 inch long area under the toes. I placed it on my foot with a shoe thinking it may hold in some heat that way. I had it on one foot for 5 minutes with a regular shoe and sock on the other foot. I could not tell a difference. This was done inside. Therefore this is obviously useless in cold weather as a "heated sock". Good quality sock material if you want them for regular socks.
